Nusteel is a premier fabricator and supplier of bridge-like structures (footbridges, gantries, stairways, etc.). The company is in its 50th year. Nusteel is based in Kent, United Kingdom, but supplies products to both a national and international market. Their main customers are in the industries that provide national infrastructure, eg highways, railways, construction.

Nusteel provides a comprehensive service - from site surveys and design, through manufacture and painting to delivery and erection. Structures can be single piece with lengths up to 47 metres and weights in excess of 50 tonnes. The company prides itself in being able to offer its products using its own internal facilities, providing the necessary controls for compliance to current quality and other standards.

Involvement in NOMAD

The NOMAD project provides Nusteel with an ideal opportunity to explore the opportunities provided by technologies to move the various manufacturing processes beyond simple craft based techniques. Possibilities with welding robots is obvious, but their application in surface preparation and finishing is less so. Improved images provided by 3-D modelling techniques offer improvements in the client-supplier relationship.
